Much has been written about patola, but the one book to have (or actually two), is the above-mentioned Alfred Bühler and Eberhard Fischer, The Patola of Gujarat, Krebs, Basel, 1979. This lavishly illustrated two-volume set is the standard work that most other authors are indebted to. The website of Hong Kong dealer Asian Textile Arts has an interesting short piece on Indian Trade Cloths that places the history of patola in the wider context of Indian tradecloths in general.
